BJP MP from South Delhi Ramvir Singh Bidhuri on Monday alleged that former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his party’s government have betrayed the entire rural belt of the national capital and have been constantly lying about the village issues.

Bidhuri gave an open challenge to Kejriwal for a debate anywhere on the issue of Delhi’s rural belt, claiming that if the AAP chief proves that his allegations are true, the BJP leader will quit politics.

Addressing a press conference here, Bidhuri mentioned that the AAP chief who is accusing the central government with regard to alleged neglect towards the city’s rural belt, is something similar to a situation of ‘the thief scolding the police’.

He accused Kejriwal of not doing anything in the interest of Delhi’s rural areas and the native farmers, and not honouring any promises he made to the national capital’s villagers.

Bidhuri further said the proposal to regularise the expanding population of Delhi rural was passed by the Sheila Dikshit government in 2013, and the notification was also issued.

He said the RWAs of the villages were asked to submit their layout plans, and hundreds of layout plans were submitted to the Delhi government, but in the meantime the AAP came to power, and till date that decision has not been implemented.

Bidhuri claimed that ex-CM Kejriwal, as well as the current CM Atishi had promised that the house tax of Delhi rural areas would be waived-off, but it was not done.

The BJP leader also accused the AAP government of allegedly stopping the scheme under which farmers were to be given alternative plots against their land which was acquired by the government.

Similarly, Bidhuri mentioned that the mutation of the names of the heirs of the farmers was also stopped which has now been started by the Lieutenant Governor recently after the request of BJP MPs.

Bidhuri recalled, claiming that Kejriwal had earlier said the Delhi farmers will be given 50 per cent more MSP on their crops, but he did not fulfill that promise either.

He claimed that farmers were promised free electricity for irrigation , but commercial rates of electricity are being charged from them.

The BJP leader further mentioned that the decision to abolish Section 81-A and 33-A could also have been taken at the level of the Delhi government, AAP dispensation did not implement it either.

Since the decision to declare villages as urbanised was not taken, these sections remained in force and due to this reason, the Green Development Area (GDA) policy and land pooling policy could not be implemented, added Bidhuri.

The BJP leader pointed out that the Delhi government had to give ownership rights to the landless farmers who were given land under the 20-point programme, it has been suppressing that decision as well.

He further alleged that Kejriwal and his party have not only treated the rural areas of Delhi in step-motherly way but also have not allowed the public welfare schemes announced for farmers by the government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to be implemented.
